Welcome back to our third installment of Travel Safe and Save with PETRONAS PRIMAX 95 XTRA where we set foot on some interesting destinations in the humble city of Ipoh.
This time around, Julie Woon heads to the capital of Perak with the Hyundai i10 and checks out a 73-year old tin dredge ship in Tanjung Tualang as well as explores Gua Tambun where she finds ancient wall drawings!
Julie also tries out the famous, mouth watering Nasi Ganja on Jalan Yang Kalsom before making a stop at the Perak Tong which houses over 40 Buddha statues.

This tin dredge ship was built in 1938 by consulting engineering firm F.W. Payne and Co. The ship was located in Teja, Gopeng and was in service for 44 years before its operations ceased. The ship was then moved to its present location in 1982 and is now open to public. Codenamed the T.T. No. 5, it went through an RM100,000 facelift.

This historic cave features wall drawings that are approximately 3,000 years old. The Hematite art work are made up by drawings of a deer, a dugong as well as a human figure. There are also sketches of an octopus and a fish. History has it that the drawings were found by a soldier named R.L. Rawlings in 1959.

The Nasi Kandar Ayam Merah stall is famously known to offer Nasi Ganja in the Yong Suan Coffee Shop on Jalan Yang Kalsom and it has been in existence since 1956. The reason why they call it Nasi Ganja? Well that’s because people simply come back for more!

The Perak Tong Cave Temple was built in 1926 by a Buddhist priest from China and it houses over 40 Buddha statues. The temple is also made up by a total of 385 steps and there are gorgeous stalagmite and stalactite formations.
